Author Biography:

Benjamin Boozer

Dr. Benjamin Boozer’s primary teaching areas include corporate finance at the undergraduate and graduate level, and personal financial planning. He is academically qualified to teach in finance and economics disciplines. Courses taught include introductory courses in both finance and economics, personal financial planning, money and banking, intermediate corporate finance, advanced topics in finance, concepts of finance and accounting (graduate level), financial management (graduate level), and independent research (graduate level). Research interests address various areas of finance and economics that include personal finance and taxes, entrepreneurship, banking and financial services, corporate finance, and economic development.

Dr. Boozer has authored or co-authored twenty-nine peer reviewed, refereed journal articles, analyzed and wrote twenty-three technical reports of economic impact for the Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR), and presented academic and professional findings at various conferences and to clients, respectively. Since 2016, he has served as senior editor of JSU Economic Update, a periodic publication of local and county level economic data for fifteen counties within north Alabama as part of the CEDBR footprint. Service to the university includes serving as faculty advisor for the Financial Management Association and for the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF). Boozer was appointed interim department head for Finance, Economics, and Accounting for fall semester 2020 and also awarded Daugette Endowed Professorship in that year in recognition of teaching, research, and service to the discipline. Other service includes serving two terms on Faculty Senate with multiple appointments as Research Committee Chair. He has been a member of the Anniston Lions Club since 1998 (including past president), and committee member of the Revolving Loan Fund of East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission since 2001. He serves his church – Bonny Brook Baptist Church (Jacksonville, AL) – in teaching Sunday School and developing and teaching Wednesday night services as needed and serves as church representative on Board of Directors for Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center (JCOC).

Jennifer Green

Jennifer Green is the director of the Center for Economic Development and Business Research at Jacksonville State University as well as one of its alumni. The center provides economic analysis as well as other economic development services to clients at the local, state and regional level. Green leads the CEDBR in its mission to provide accurate, timely and reliable information and analysis to inform decision-making in the public and private sectors. She also chairs a regional economic group made up of professionals from different agencies to collaborate on local and regional development programs and projects.

Green’s research is currently focused on integrating GIS and spatial analytics into the research her center is performing. Her team works with local, state and federal partners on planning and funding outdoor recreation development as well as targeted marketing research for small businesses in rural Alabama communities.

Camaron Harry

Camaron J. Harry is a graduate research assistant of the Center for Economic Development and Business Research at Jacksonville State University. As a graduate research assistant at the Center of Economic Development and Business Research, Camaron is responsible for assisting and conducting research projects that aim to enhance and inform the local and state economies in Alabama. Research conducted by the Center for Economic Development and Business Research aims to provide accurate and reliable analysis to the private and public sectors. In addition to his work at the Center for Economic Development, Camaron is also pursuing an MBA at Jacksonville State to further his education and career goals.
