Author Biography:

Steven Jude Patin

Steven Patin is a Doctor of Business Administration candidate at the University of the Incarnate Word’s School of Professional Studies. He currently serves as Senior Vice President and Human Resources Director at First National Bank Alaska. He served as Chief Human Resources Officer for the University System of Alaska and Vice President of Customer Operations at Alaska Communications prior to his service at First National. Steven also served for 22 years as a United States Army Officer and Airborne Ranger. Throughout his Army career, he participated in multiple worldwide deployments, was assigned as faculty at West Point, and served as Professor of Military Science at the University of Alaska. He serves on several boards and committees including the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for Hospital Art, and the Advisory Board of the Alaska Manufacturing Extension Partnership.

His research interests include leadership, process improvement, and project management.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Troy University, a Master of Education from Auburn University, is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and will hold a Doctor of Business Administration degree pending graduation in the fall of 2022.

Steven and his wife Lori live in Eagle River, Alaska, where they enjoy the outdoors and traveling. They have three adult children.

Ryan Lunsford

Dr. Ryan Lunsford joined the University of the Incarnate Word in 2010 and currently serves as Professor of Management and Chair of the Doctor of Business Administration. Professor Lunsford received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from The Texas A & M University System. He continued his graduate training at The University of Texas at Dallas where he earned both the Master of Science and the Master of Arts degrees building upon his international graduate university studies at The University of London and The London School of Economics. In 2006, having completed his dissertation examining the marketing of home education, he earned the Doctor of Philosophy in Management. Professor Lunsford teaches a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and executive courses both online and on-ground. Previously, Dr. Lunsford was Dean at the Keller School of Graduate Management in Phoenix, Arizona and Assistant Professor of Marketing and Founding Director of the Executive MBA Program at the Ken Blanchard College of Business at Grand Canyon University. Prior to academia, Professor Lunsford served a Dallas/Fort Worth non-profit educational corporation for five years as Director of Strategic Management. lunsford@uiwtx.edu
